Dear Sir,
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the alarming rise in dengue cases and fatalities in our country. According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), two more individuals have died and 84 others have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 575 and the total number of cases to 101,214. These statistics are not just numbers; they represent the suffering of countless families and communities.
The situation is even graver when we consider last year's data, which recorded 1,705 dengue-related deaths and a staggering 321,179 cases. This trend is indicative of a severe public health crisis that demands immediate and concerted action.
It is imperative that the government, health authorities, and the public work together to combat this outbreak. Strengthening vector control measures, raising public awareness about preventive practices, and ensuring prompt medical treatment for those affected are critical steps that must be taken urgently. Additionally, increased funding for research and development of effective vaccines and treatments for dengue is crucial.
We cannot afford to be complacent in the face of this crisis. Let us unite in our efforts to protect the health and well-being of our citizens.
