PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES, Jan 18: At least 122 Palestinians, including 33 children and 33 women, have been killed since Hamas and Israel announced a cease-fire agreement, according to Gaza's civil defense, as cited by Al Jazeera.
Most of the casualties, 92, occurred in Gaza City, 19 in Khan Younis, about 10 in central Gaza and two in Rafah in the south, Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the rescue service, said on Telegram.
More than 270 Palestinians have also been injured since the announcement of the agreement, which is set to take effect Sunday at 8:30 a.m. local time, Basal added.
Meanwhile, Palestinian The health ministry in Gaza has said that 23 Palestinians were killed in the enclave in the previous 24 hours, taking the overall death toll to 46,899.
According to AFP, the ministry said that at least 110,725 people have been wounded in more than 15 months of Israel's offensive in Gaza, sparked by Hamas's Oct 7, 2023 attack.
Hamas has said that Israel had "failed to achieve its aggressive goals" in Gaza, a day before the start of a ceasefire and hostage release deal it agreed with Israel, AFP reports.
Israel "only succeeded in committing war crimes that disgrace the dignity of humanity", the group said in a statement. —AGENCIES
