6 held for illegally lifting sand from Jamuna river

Police arrested six people along with two dredger machines from the Jamuna river while they were illegally lifting sand illegally in Rajbari and Manikganj districts on Friday afternoon.

The information was provided through a press release signed by Enamul Haque, inspector of Daulatdia River Police Outpost. 

The arrested men are Md Hossain, Abu Taleb, Md Saidul Khan, Md Imam Hossain, Md Samad Sheikh, and Md Mutsalin Bahadur. 

Enamul Haque said that, based on secret information, a team of police conducted a raid at Tarkhambbar area under Alokdia Char at around 3:00PM and arrested the six people along with two dredgers.
The estimated value of the seized dredgers is Tk 1 crore 25 lakh.

The arrested individuals were sent to Shibaloy Police Station after a case was filed against them, he added.
