In a thrilling encounter at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Durbar Rajshahi secured a comprehensive 65-run win against Sylhet Strikers in the 23rd match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 season on Friday.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Durbar Rajshahi posted a formidable total of 184 for seven in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by captain Anamul Bijoy, who scored a brisk 32 runs including three boundaries and two sixes, while Ryan Burl hoarded significantly with a quickfire 41 off 27 balls, featuring one four and four sixes. Besides, Jishal Alam scored 20 as Mohammad Haris and Yasri Ali Rabbi both contributed 19 runs each.

Sylhet Strikers' bowling unit had moments of brilliance with Ruyel Miah leading the attack by claiming three wickets for 32 runs in his four-over spell. Nahidul Islam and Nihaduzzaman provided support each taking two wickets.

Chasing 185 for victory, Sylhet Strikers faced early setbacks losing opener Paul Stirling for two and Rony Talukdar for four runs. The top order struggled to build momentum, with Zakir Hasan George Munsey attempted to stabilize the innings with 39 and 20 run knocks but the mounting required run rate added pressure. Jaker Ali's 31 off 20 went in vain as the middle and lower order couldn't withstand Rajshahi's disciplined bowling attack, which led to the team's dismissal for 119 runs in 17.3 overs.

Durbar Rajshahi's bowlers delivered a cohesive performance with Sunzamul Islam spearheading the attack by taking three wickets for 25 runs in his four overs. Taskin Ahmed, Mrityunjoy Chowdhury and Aftab Alam complemented with two wickets each, with Mark Deyal chipping in with one wicket.

Sunzamul Islam of Durbar Rajshahi was named the Player of the Match for his splendid bowling spell.
