JnU students on 'complete shutdown', threaten to besiege secretariat

Jagannath University (JnU) students went on 'complete shutdown' after a 24-hour hunger strike to press home three-point demands.
They also locked the main entrance gate of the university on Monday morning, failing to yield a response.
Among their key grievances is the call for the construction of the university's second campus to be handed over to the army.
The protesters also threatened to besiege the secretariat if the administration will not sit with the army officials and the government.
At least 15 protesters have been hospitalised after started hunger strike on Sunday morning. But they did not withdrew though gave assurance from the vice-chacellor.
Masud Rana, a student of the university's Physics Department said, "We will not attend any classes or take exams at the university until our demands are met. We announced a complete shutdown on Sunday night."
