RANGAMATI, Jan 11: Kawkhali Upazila administration in the district, in a day-long drive, realised Tk 6.80 lakh as fine from the owners of 10 brick kilns for manufacturing bricks without approval of the Department of Environment (DoE) and various other irregularities in the upazila on Saturday.
Later on, the 10 brick kilns were sealed off.
A team led by Kawkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kazi Atikur Rahman conducted the drive in 10 brick kilns of the upazila as per the directions of the High Court and closed them down.
The upazila administration will continue the drive to close the illegal brick kilns, said the UNO.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Faisal Al Noor and Assistant Director of the DoE Mominul Islam, among others, were also present during the drive.
