Prof Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Treasurer of Dhaka University (DU) announced that a proposal would soon be submitted to the government for the demolition of the deteriorating structure and construction of a new multi-storied building in its place at Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall.

He disclosed this plan on Thursday during an inspection of Mohsin Hall, following concerns about the hall's structural safety.
During his visit, he toured various rooms, including one where a student was injured by falling plaster just a day ago and solicited opinions of residents to understand their grievances.
He assured that all the preliminary works such as soil tests and other relevant tests would be ready in a week, while draft designs for the new facility would be completed.

The university Treasurer was accompanied by key personnel, including Prof Dr Mohammad Nazmul Ahsan, Provost of Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall, Chief Engineer and officials from the Engineering Department, which made significant advancement toward addressing long-standing infrastructure problems.
