Trader hacked dead in Jhalakathi

A mobile trader was hacked to death by miscreants in Jhalakathi's Sadar upazila on Monday night.

The incident happened in Rampur area under Krittipasa union in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Sudeb Howlader, 28, son of Subrata Howlader, a resident of the area. He had a mobile shop at Baukathi bazar in the area.
Police and relatives of the deceased said that some miscreants hacked and slaughtered him in the area at around 10:00PM while he was returning home from his shop. Family members searched for him during the night when he did not return home. On Tuesday morning, locals spotted his body in a paddy field about one kilometer away from their house and informed the police.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Jhalakathi Sadar Police Station.
