PATUAKHALI, Jan 6: Rear Admiral Masud Iqbal has taken charge of the Payra Port Authority (PPA) as chairman.
On January 5, he took over the charge from outgoing chairman Rear Admiral Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury.
On December 17, a circular signed by Public Administration Ministry's Senior Assistant Secretary Mohammad Mamun Shibli was issued in this connection. The circular asked for return of the outgoing PPA chairman to the navy.
Earlier, the newly appointed PPA Chairman Rear Admiral Masud Iqbal was in the Shipping Ministry.
Deputy Director of Traffic Department of the PPA Azizur Rahman said, the present chairman Rear Admiral Abdullah Al Mamun has been transferred to the Bangladesh Navy; he will work in the Navy Headquarters as assistant chief.
Rear Admiral Masud Iqbal has got the charge as the PPA chairman, he added.
