A motorcyclist was killed and another injured in a road accident at Bagatipara upazila in Natore district early on Monday.
The accident took place on the Natore-Doyarampur road in Sonapur Hijli area under Doyarampur union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Ismail Hossain, 58, a resident of Laxmipur Kholabari Khamarpara area under the Sadar upazila in the district.
It was learnt that the duo were going to Bagatipara Doyarampur Bazar to buy vegetable riding on a motorcycle. When they arrived in the area, the driver of the motorcycle lost control over the steering due to dense fog and fell from the motorcycle, leaving them critically injured.
Locals rescued them and took them Natore Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared Ismail dead. The injured, Surman Ali, is undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bagatipara Model Police Station, confirmed the matter.
