Jatiya Nagorik Committee condemned and protested the attack on Faruk Hasan, a leader of the Gano Odhikar Parishad (GOP), on Saturday evening at the Central Shaheed Minar. The committee demands an immediate investigation to find the criminals and their speedy prosecution under the law.

On Sunday, in a press release issued by the committee's co-spokesperson, Salehuddin Sifat stated the attack took place during a programme organized by the National Revolutionary Council, a newly formed political party, at Shaheed Minar. The assault allegedly stemmed from a speech delivered by Faruk Hasan during the event.

The committee characterised the attack as "an aggressive manifestation of forces subservient to the old political system and structure" and urged law enforcement agencies to act promptly.

They added, we advise the police agencies to urgently find the assailants and bring them to justice immediately and wished speedy recovery of Faruk Hasan.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir also condemned the attack in the strongest terms.
