Results of Zila Parishad polls

The maiden election to 59 Zila Parishads (district councils) across the country, except five districts, was held on Wednesday.

Unofficial results started pouring in the Daily Observer newsroom after vote counting.

Our correspondents from 16 district have, so far, sent the unofficial results of the chairman post.

Chandpur 

Alhaj Osman Gani Patwary from Awami League won the election. He got 767 votes.

Md Miajuddin Khan from AL (773 votes)

Barisal

AL-backed candidate Maidul Islam declared chairman (968 votes).

Netrakona

AL candidate Proshanto Roy has elected unopposed.

Laxmipur

AL-nominated candidate M Shamsul Islam (555 votes)

AL rebel aspirant Mohammad Ali Sarkar (752)

AL candidate M Zafar Ali (649 votes)
