Ferry movement on the Aricha-Kazirhat resumed at 9AM on Sunday, while on the Paturia-Daulatdia route around 4:30AM as the fog cleared.
Nasir Chowdhury, deputy general manager of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Aricha sector, said due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, Paturia-Daulatdia route ferry services halted at 6:30AM on Sunday.
Two ferries--Hasna Hena and Keramat Ali-- got stranded in the mid-river, while six ferries at Paturia Ghat and two at Daulatdia Ghat remained stationary with passengers and vehicles onboard.
Meanwhile, services on the Aricha-Kazirhat route were suspended from 5:30AM, with the ferry Khan Jahan Ali anchored mid-river carrying vehicles.
Three ferries at Aricha Ghat and one at Kazirhat Ghat were also halted during the disruption.
