Four people including a woman were murdered in separate incidents in three districts - Chapainawabganj, Bogura and Noakhali, on Tuesday.
CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Two teenage boys were stabbed to death at a Victory Day sports award ceremony in Nachole Upazila of the district on Tuesday night.
Six others were also injured in the incident that took place in Mallikpur area under the upazila at around 11:30 pm.
The deceased were identified as Masud Ali, 17, son of Ejabul, and Raihan, 16, son of Abdur Rahim. Both of them were residents of Kholsi Village in the upazila.
Local sources said that a sports event was organized in Mallikpur area on the occasion of Victory Day. The prize distribution ceremony for the sports was held on Tuesday night. A fight broke out between some local youths at the event, which left two people dead on the spot and six others injured.
BOGURA: A residential hotel manager was stabbed to death by miscreants in the district on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Bipul Mia, 42, hailed from Shalmara Mirapara Village under Gobindaganj Upazila in Gaibandha. He was the manager of 'Sunshine Residential Hotel' in Matidali area of the district town.
He died while undergoing treatment at Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZRMCH) at around 9:30 pm.
Police sources said that Bipul was stabbed during an argument with some youths at the hotel gate at around 1:30 pm. He was first admitted to TMSS Medical College Hospital. From there, he was transferred to the SZRMCH, where Bipul died at 9:30 pm while undergoing treatment.
NOAKHALI: A woman was brutally stabbed to death by her brother-in-law in Begumganj Upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The incident, which also left the deceased's father-in-law seriously injured, took place in Hajipur area under Chowmuhani Municipality in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Shahnaz Akter Pinky, 35, wife of Kuwait expatriate Jahangir Alam, and the mother of two sons.
Meanwhile, the accused Saiful Islam alias Khaled, 30, is a relative and resident of the same household.
According to the deceased's family members, Khaled had been harassing Pinky for over a year. A year back, when Pinky's mobile phone broke, she entrusted Khaled with repairing it. During that time, Khaled allegedly copied personal photos and videos sent by Pinky's husband and used them to blackmail her.
