GAZIPUR, Dec 13: Bangladesh Railway is launching four pairs of new commuter trains on Dhaka-Joydebpur-Dhaka route to make commuting to the capital more convenient for the residents of Gazipur.
The service, set to begin on Sunday, aims to enhance connectivity for the people of Gazipur, a growing industrial hub.
The matter was announced in a press statement issued by Nahid Hasan Khan, director of the public relations department of the Director General's office of Bangladesh Railways on Thursday, said Hanif Ali, station master of Joydebpur Railway Station.
Residents of Gazipur have expressed excitement and optimism since the news of the new train services spread.
According to the notification, Bangladesh Railway has decided to start operations of four pairs of commuter trains from Dec 15.
The trains are - Turag Commuter 1, Turag Commuter 2, Turag Commuter 3, Turag Commuter 4, Joydebpur Commuter 1, Joydebpur Commuter 2, Joydebpur Commuter 3, and Joydebpur Commuter 4.
The trains will stop at Dhaka Airport, Tejgaon, Banani, Tongi, and Dhirashram stations.
However, the Turag Commuter will not operate on Fridays, while the Joydebpur Commuter will be closed on Saturdays.
