GOPALGANJ, Dec 13: The Gopalganj unit BNP opened its office in the district after 17 years.
Sirajul Islam Siraj, former president of Gopalganj unit BNP, as the chief guest, inaugurated the office at Gatepara in the town on Friday morning.
Sirajul Islam said that in the last 17 years, during the Awami League (AL) regime, it was not possible for BNP to maintain an office in Gopalganj. He alleged that the AL harassed and oppressed the BNP leaders and activists using law enforcement agencies during that time.
Siraj expressed his hope that the party's organizational activities in Gopalganj will be strengthening after inauguration of this office.
Olama Dal leader Md Omar Faruk, and BNP leaders Azizur Rahman Beno, Alamgir Hossain and Khairul Islam, among others, also addressed the inaugural programme.
Following this, prayers and supplications were performed.
Later on, leaders and activists of the party distributed leaflets containing the BNP's 31-point outline for reforms among the attendees.
