BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon the interim government to not make the political parties as their rivals.

"Because of it, we will have to proceed with caution," he said while speaking at a discussion at the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh auditorium in the capital on Friday (December 13).

He also said, "We should not forget our great War of Liberation of 1971."

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) organized the discussion in observance of the "Martyred Intellectuals Day."

The BNP leaders will pay tributes to the martyred intellectuals of 1971 at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial at Mirpur at 11:00am on Saturday (December 14).

Mirza Fakhrul alleged that Sheikh Hasina was working actively to return to power again with the help of India. "All must have to be united to resist her," he said.

The BNP leader observed that instead of implementing the spirit of the War of Liberation, the Awami League had thrown the country's independence and sovereignty into a grave threat while the party was in power. The fallen government had implemented various projects to create a meritless nation.

"Awami League had distorted the country's true history over the last 15 years in its own way," he said.

Mirza Fakhrul also expressed his resentment again at the comment that "political parties are working to make the interim government as a failure." He urged the interim government to withdraw the comment as soon as possible.

He also called upon the partymen to not make any comment which goes against the independence of the country.

Taking part in the discussion as the chief guest, BNP Standing Committee member Dr Khondker Mosharraf Hossain said the interim government would face a bad time if it tries to delay the election in the name of reforms. "Reform is an ongoing process. It will also not end on a specific date or time. People's government will implement the reforms in future."
