Ferry services have resumed on the country's important Daulatdia-Paturia waterway after being suspended for nearly five hours due to dense fog.
The services resumed on Friday (December 13) around 7:30 am when the fog on the river cleared.
Earlier, as the fog density increased in the Padma River basin on the Daulatdia-Paturia route at night, the beacon lights and marking points of the channel became unclear at around 2:30 am. The BIWTC authorities stopped ferry services to avoid accidents.
Later, when the fog density decreased slightly at around 6 am on Friday, ferry services resumed but were again stopped due to fog. Finally, when the fog density decreased at around 7:30 am, ferry services resumed.
BIWTC's Daulatdia Ghat Branch Assistant Manager (Commerce) Khorshed Alam said that ferry services resumed on the route from 7:30 am as the fog density decreased. Due to low traffic pressure, no queues were formed at Daulatdia.
