BHALUKA, MYMENSINGH, Dec 12: Three people including a newlywed couple allegedly committed suicide in Bhaluka Upazila of the district on Wednesday.
Police recovered their hanging bodies from Dubaliapara and Kashor areas under Habirbari Union of the upazila in the evening.
The deceased were identified as Mafizur Rahman Sagar, 25, son of Abdur Rashid of Ghagragachhi Village in Dinajpur, and his wife Rehena Akhter Nupur, 19, daughter of Dukhu Mia of Imdadpur area under Madan Upazila in Netrakona; and Sonali Akhter, 17, daughter of Abul Hossain, hailed from Sholakia area in Kishoreganj. All of them worked in local factories and used to live in rented houses at Habirbari Union in Bhaluka Upazila of Mymensingh.
Police and local sources said that Sonali Akhter, a worker of Advance Mills, hanged herself from the ceiling of her rented room in Chhoto Kashor area under Habirbari Union at around 6:30 pm out of huff with her husband.
Being informed, police recovered the body.
Meanwhile, a newlywed couple committed suicide by hanging themselves with the same scarf from the ceiling fan of a room of their rented house in Habirbari Dubalia Para area in the evening. Deceased Sagar and Nupur got married recently and both of them worked in Crown Wears Limited.
Being informed, police recovered the bodies at around 7 pm.
The reason behind their committing suicide could not be known immediately.
Bhaluka Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md Humayun Kabir confirmed the incidents, adding that all of the bodies were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsies.
Additional Superintend of Police (Gafargaon Circle) Afroza Nazneen visited the scenes and said that the law enforcers are investigating the matters.
