BOGURA, Dec 12: Bogura District was freed on December 13 in 1971.
Before December 13, Muktibahini and allied forces had jointly made a biting attack on the Pakistani-occupying forces.
Air strike by the allied forces and their joint land attacking made the enemy forces directionless. And, at one stage, the enemy forces became cornered.
On December 2, firstly Sariakandi Police Station was liberated. Later on, Sonatala, Gabtali, Dhunot and Sherpur upazilas were freed one after another.
On December 13, Sadar Upazila, Kahalu, Nandigram, and Dupchanchia became freed. Shibganj amd Adamdighi were freed on December 14.
The fighting of Muktibahi and allied forces with the Pakistani forces was severe on December 13, said some freedom fighters, adding, on the day in several places the enemy forces surrendered.
Led by Abdus Sabur Sawdagor and Chhatra Union leader late Sayed Fazlul Ahsan Dipu, two groups entered in the Bogura town at the same time from two ways. Severe fighting also took place on December 10, 11 and 13.
On December 13 evening surrendering news of the Pakistani forces made victorious hope among Muktibahini, allied forces and dwellers of Bogura. After December 13 night, they became freed.
Rajakar, Al Badar, Al Sams and terrorists of Muslim League absconded in different villages and places.
