Younex-sunrise Bangladesh Junior International Badminton Series begins today at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the capital.
Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain is expected to inaugurate the meet as the chief guest at 3.30 pm.
Three countries- Bangladesh, India and Indonesia will take part in the tournament to be held in five categories. The categories are women's and men's singles and doubles as well as mixed doubles.
Total prize money of the tournament is US$ 5,000.
After the junior tournament, the senior International Badminton Series will be held from December 17-21 at the same venue with the participation of 19 countries.
Shuttlers from India, Thailand, Myanmar, Canada, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Japan, Maldives, Ukraine, Italy, Finland, Bulgaria, Uganda, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, England and host Bangladesh are scheduled to participate in the senior tournament. —BSS
