Miscreants stabbed a young man to death near a police outpost at Kaliakair upazila in Gazipur early Thursday.
The incident took place around 5 am in Mouchak area.
The victim was Tajbir Hossain Shihan, 26, son of Tanvir Hossain Nannu Mia of Mouchak Jamtala area of the upazila.
According to police and witnesses, Shihan worked at a call center in Dhaka's Uttara. In the morning, he left his house and was heading towards Mouchak bus stand. At that time, five youths carrying sharp weapons chased him on Mazar Road. At one stage, they came in front of Hanif Spinning Mill on the west side of Mouchak police outpost and caught him. Later, the miscreants hacked Shihan to death with sharp weapons and fled the scene.
Kaliakoir Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Riyad Mahmud said miscreants stabbed a young man to death. Legal action is under process in this regard.
