It is learnt that BCL leader Jahangir Hossain, an inhabitant of Kedarganj in Chuadanga Municiality, has been in prison after being arrested in a subversion case on November 14 last. His mother Aleya Khatun died on Tuesday (December 10). Responding to a request of the family, he was released on parole from Chuadanga Jail for four hours -- from 1:00pm to 5:00pm -- to take part in his mother's funeral prayer and burial. At that time, he was seen taking part in the burial of his mother under police escort. He was also handcuffed.

Contacted, Chuadanga's additional police super (Admn) Riazul Islam said police often take such initiatives taking the types of accused and atmosphere into consideration. Law has also been followed here. In the same way, many accused are also asked to wear helmets and bullet-proof jackets for the sake of security. Such steps are often taken after analyzing the cases and types of accused, he further said.
