Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has decided to launch a special audit of the financial reports of three companies listed on the stock market under Beximco Group.
These companies are Beximco Limited, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, and Shinepukur Ceramics Limited.
This decision has been taken at the 935th commission meeting, chaired by BSEC Chairman Khondkar Rashed Maqsud on Wednesday.
The commission announced that the audit will focus on the financial reports of the three companies for the past five years.
There have been widespread allegations of market manipulation involving the shares of these three Beximco Group companies. It is suspected that the owners were connected with these manipulative activities.
This special audit is viewed as a crucial step by BSEC to ensure market stability and maintain investor confidence. In light of the current situation, the commission's decision is expected to promote transparency and protect stakeholders' rights in the market.
