A three-day training program on applied nutrition for better health was held at Kaliganj upazila Gazipur district.
Organized by the Bangladesh Institute of Applied Nutrition Research and Training (BIRTAN) under the Ministry of Agriculture, the event ended with a certificate distribution ceremony.
Prominent trainers included Dr. S.M. Manjur-e-Elahi, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer; Dr. Yusuf Habib, Livestock Officer; Agronomist Farzana Taslim, Agricultural Officer; Md. Abu Sama, Fisheries Officer; Elora Parveen, Senior Scientific Officer, BIRTAN; and Al Shahriar Ramzan, Assistant Scientific Officer, BIRTAN.
The training was supported by the Upazila Agriculture Office and implemented under the "Strengthening Nutrition and Food Security through Agricultural Development" project (a BIRTAN initiative).
The program commenced on Monday and took place at two locations: the Upazila Agricultural Training Center for 30 farmers and the Upazila BANBEIS office for another 30 participants, including Sub-Assistant Agricultural Officers (SAAO), school teachers, religious leaders (imams and priests) and NGO workers.
The initiative aimed to enhance understanding and practices of nutrition among key community stakeholders, contributing to improved health and food security in the region.
