NATORE, Dec 11: A meeting on safe food was held in the conference room of the deputy commissioner's room in the district town on Tuesday.
Joint Secretary Mahamudul Kabir Murad, also member of the Bangladesh Safe Food Authority (BSFA), was present as the chief guest while Natore DC Asma Shahin Deputy Commissioner presided over the programme.
The chief guest in his speech said that a mini-lab will be set up in every district to ensure safe food for the people.
He further said, food is a container of power. The people who pollute food by mixing poison and chemicals, they should be punished by law in a hard manner.
Mahamudul Kabir Murad also said, "We are working in the field level aiming to ensure safe food for the people. About 72 labs have been set up in the meantime. Besides that more labs will be be set up at every upazila and district level by turn. Apart from this, a mobile lab will work at upazila level for immediate action."
He again said that those who are related with the food production and supply, they must be conscious and responsible in this regard, otherwise safe food cannot be expected. If it can be done, the consumers will get safe food. He urged all to be careful in this matter.

Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Food Md Sohelur Rahaman Khan, District Civil Surgeon Md Muktadir Arifin, Additional DC (General) Masudur Rahaman, Assistant Director of Directorate of Consumers Rights Protection in Natore Mehedi Hassan Tanvir, Singra Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Majharul Islam, Lalpur UNO Mehedi Hassan, and District Food Officer Md Mofazzal Hossain, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
