Dear Sir
On Wednesday morning, a tragic three-way collision occurred on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Brahmanbaria's Bijoynagar, resulting in the deaths of three people and leaving five others injured. The accident took place at Birpasha, when a Cumilla-bound drum truck collided head-on with a microbus traveling in the opposite direction. In a subsequent chain of events, a Sylhet-bound pick-up van, driving at high speed, crashed into the drum truck.
The deceased were identified as Raisa, an 11-month-old girl from Madhabpur, Habiganj; Fazilatunnesa, 75, from Dantamandal, Nasirnagar; and Pavel, 30, from Haripur, Brahmanbaria. The injured victims were quickly rescued by locals and taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment. Police have seized the drum truck, pick-up, and microbus involved in the collision, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to Khatihata Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Margub Touhid.
This tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of road safety. Speeding, poor vehicle maintenance, and lack of caution on highways can result in devastating accidents. It is crucial for all drivers to be vigilant, obey traffic rules, and exercise patience to prevent such senseless loss of life. Road safety awareness must be prioritized to avoid further accidents and protect the lives of those on the road.
