The West Indies secured a historic first series win against Bangladesh since 2014 with a commanding seven-wicket victory in the second ODI at Warner Park, Basseterre, St. Kitts. The hosts now lead the three-match series 2-0 with one game remaining.

Winning the toss Bangladesh elected to bat first, but struggled to build momentum, finishing with a modest total of 227 in 45.5 overs.

Opener Tanzid Hasan provided a bright start with a brisk 46 off 33 balls, but the middle order faltered under relentless pressure from the West Indian bowlers.

Soumya Sarkar (2), Liton Das (4) and Stand-in skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz (1) got out cheaply to invite the disaster. Afif Hossain once again got a start of 24 runs but failed to capitalize it.

Mahmudullah's gritty 62 and a late cameo of 45 by Tanzim Hasan Sakib added some respectability to the total, but the team never recovered from the early setbacks.

Jayden Seales was the star with the ball claiming career-best figures of four for 22 in nine overs, while Gudakesh Motie took two, with Marquino Mindley, Romario Shepherd, Justin Greaves and Roston Chase taking one wicket apiece.

In response, the West Indies showcased their batting depth with a steady chase, reaching the target in just 36.5 overs.

Brandon King and Evin Lewis set the tone with an opening partnership of 109, with King contributing a fiery 65 and Lewis Missed a fifty for one run, while Keacy Carty contributed 45 runs.

Sherfane Rutherford sealed the victory in style, smashing a six to finish unbeaten on 22 off 13 balls and skipper Shai Hope was not out on 17 as the hosts reached at 230 for three.

Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana and Afif took one wicket each for Bangladesh.

Jayden Seales was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.

The third and final ODI will take place at the same venue today, with Bangladesh hoping to salvage some pride while the West Indies aim for a clean sweep.
