Labour unrest in Ashulia demanding 15pc increment

Several readymade garment factory workers in Ashulia industrial area are started demonstration on Wednesday morning demanding a 15 percent annual increment, rejecting the government's recently proposed four per cent increment.

In the face of their protest, the authorities of the 12 factories were forced to close the factories.

Employees of Ha-Meem Group, Sharmin Group, Medlar, Next Collection, Al Muslim, Setara Group and some other factories stopped working demanding different issues.
Meanwhile, NASA and Trouser Line declared closures under Section 13(1) of the Labour Act. Bando Design announced a general holiday.

Superintendent of Industrial Police-1 Mohammad Mominul Islam Bhuiya said, "The workers are dissatisfied with the increased salary and are stopping work. However, they are not engaging in any anarchy or chaos."
