Three people were killed and five others injured in a three-way collision involving a drum truck, pick-up and microbus in Brahmanbaria's Bijoynagar on Wednesday.
The accident occurred in the morning at Birpasha on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.
The dead were identified as Raisa, an 11-month-old daughter of Manik Mia of Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj, Fazilatunnesa, 75, of Dantamandal village under Nasirnagar upazila in Brahmanbaria, and Pavel, 30, son of Lokman Mia of Haripur village of the same upazila.
Khatihata Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Margub Touhid said a Cumilla-bound drum truck collided head-on with a microbus coming from the opposite direction. Meanwhile, a Sylhet-bound pick-up van hit the drum truck at a reckless speed. Three people were killed and five injured.
Locals rescued the injured and sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital. The drum truck, pick-up and microbus involved in the accident have been taken to police station.
