One killed in Lakshmipur filling station cylinder blast

A man was killed and three others were injured in a gas cylinder blast while refueling a bus at a filling station in Lakshmipur Sadar upazila early Wednesday.

The horrific accident occurred early in the morning while a local bus belonging to 'Al Madina' was refilling gas at Greenleaf Filling Station at Islam Market under Lakshmipur Municipality.
The dead was identified as Kalam, 21, a labourer. The injured are Hossain Ahmed, Naim and Abul Hossain.

Police and eyewitnesses said the bus was refilling gas filling station early in the morning. Suddenly, there was an explosion and the gas cylinder of the bus was shattered. At that time, smoke covered all around. Kalam died on the spot.

Later, with the help of locals, fire service personnel rescued the bodies of the dead and the injured and admitted them to hospital.

Earlier, on October 14, three people were killed in an explosion while refilling gas cylinders for another bus at the same filling station. Nine more people were injured that day.
