JnU JCD GS Nasir calls CA-coordinators meet unethical

Nasir Uddin Nasir, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, criticized the meeting between the Chief Adviser and coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, stating that only one organization cannot represent all students. He emphasized that all student organizations should be invited to meet with the Chief Adviser. He strongly condemned the decision to meet solely with the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement without inviting other groups.

Nasir made these remarks during a human chain organized by Jagannath University Chhatra Dal on the occasion of International Human Rights Day on Tuesday.

He explained that coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement are free to meet, but such meetings should not be conducted through a press release. The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal  had invited 28 active student organizations to the meeting but deliberately excluded the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement because they cannot be considered as a political student organization.

Nasir also referred to the Islami Chhatra Shibir, by saying that the exclusion of certain groups in the programme was being misrepresented on social media. He strongly condemned this misleading campaign, asserting that this student organization had engaged in secretive political dealings in the past.

He stated after the Chhatra League was banned for its violent actions, the Islami Chhatra Shibir has now resurfaced openly in politics, and for this reason, they were not invited. Extending an invitation to such an organization would legitimize their covert political agenda, which is despised by students for its violent past. Nasir pointed out that following the August 5th mass uprising, this organization has been involved in politics alongside the Chhatra League, which remains a banned and notorious group.

Nasir further highlighted the sacrifices made by the JCD members, stating that over 100 of its leaders and activists had been killed by the regime of Hasina. He emphasized that no other political organization had faced as much bloodshed, and that they have not forgotten their first martyr, Wasim. He noted that more than 5,000 activists had been arrested during this period.

The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, according to Nasir, believes that the movement led by Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman over the past 15 years has achieved initial success, especially following the events of August 5. Prior to this, the JCD had been the most persecuted organization, with three of its activists still missing. He demanded the immediate return of these missing students, who are the victims of the oppressive regime.

Nasir Uddin Nasir also stressed that the interim government has failed to arrest top leaders of the Awami League. He called for all leaders and activists of the Chhatra League to be swiftly brought to justice.
