BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Tuesday, "We will not use the products of those who make friendship with fascist Sheikh Hasina instead of the people of this country."Speaking at a programme titled "Swadeshi ponno kine how dhonno" in Rajshahi, he said, "Bangladesh's demand for onion is 2.7 million tonnes but we produce 3.7 lakh tons. The price of onion has been increased by manipulators. Onion is imported from India with crores of taka. If we can fix our supply chain management, there will be no need to import onion."Rizvi said, "India thought that we are dependent on it, we can't do anything without its help. Now businesses in Kolkata is almost shut down."
He said, 'Our Tangail sarees, Kumarkhali lungis and towels are exported all over the world. Our Jamdani sarees, loom sarees, Rajshahi silk are world famous. So why should women in this country buy Indian sarees?"
The programme was organised at Bhuban Mohan Park in Rajshahi. Rizvi threw a bedsheet from Jaipur Textiles in protest against anti-Bangladesh propaganda of India. Then the party leaders and workers set the bed sheet on fire.
Later, Rizvi announced that the medical college students have brought some clothes here. They will sell cloth at low price, sarees are sold there for Tk 200 and lungi for Tk 100.
Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP Convener Ershad Ali Isha presided over the event.
Among others BNP health affairs secretary of the central committee Rafiqul Islam, district BNP member secretary Viswanath Sarkar, metropolitan member secretary Mamunur Rashid, joint convener Aslam Sarkar, Waliur Rahman Rana were present at the programme.
