The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in Barishal arrested three individuals along with a total of 4,000 yaba pills during two separate bus raids on Tuesday.
The arrests were made near Rahmatpur bus stand on the Barishal-Dhaka highway.
The arrested are Abu Sayeed, 25,from Sutir Par area at Roumari upazila in Kurigram; Mohammad Man Hawlader, 36, from Robipur area under Bakerganj upazila of Barishal, and Mohammad Raihan Islam, 22, from Purba Lemua area of Patharghata upazila in Barguna.
Assistant Director of DNC's Barishal Divisional Intelligence Office, Md. Enayet Hossain, confirmed the information, saying, "Acting on a tip-off, officers intercepted an Alif Paribahan bus traveling from Chattogram to Barishal at around 11:00 AM. During the search, 1,000 yaba tablets were recovered and Abu Sayeed and Mohammad Man Hawlader were taken into custody."
"An hour later, officers stopped another bus from Sakura Paribahan traveling from Dhaka to Barishal. A search revealed 3,000 yaba tablets, leading to the arrest of Mohammad Raihan Islam," he said.
Separate cases under Narcotics Control Act were filed at Barishal Metropolitan Airport Police Station. The arrested individuals and the seized drugs have been handed over to the local police for further legal proceedings, he added.
