PABNA, Dec 10: General students on Monday held a protest rally demanding justice for the murder of student Shimul Malitha, focusing on a trivial incident during a Waz Mahfil in the district.
The protest rally was brought out by the students, starting from in front of the Zilla school and ended in front of the district commissioner's office, after parading main roads in the town.
Speakers demanded a proper investigation and justice for the tragic murder of Shimul Malitha, a meritorious student of the 2022 batch of the district school.
On Friday night, the Waz Mahfil was going on in Char-Ghoshpur Village in Pabna Sadar Upazila. At about 7 pm, few youths came and were locked into arguments outside the Mahfil pandal over a trivial issue. At one stage, a stabbing incident occurred.
Shimul, 21, Kawsar, 19, and Disar Ali, 20, were injured.
Shimul died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH). Two others were admitted to RMCH.
Deceased Shimul, 21, was the son of Shahin of Char Ghoshpur Village in Sadar Upazila.
Police arrested three people. The arrested are Khalil,55, son of late Jalil Sardar of Char Ghoshpur Sardar Para, Shanto, 25, son of Jalal of the same village, and Mithu (30), son of Rahim Uddin.
