All pry students to get books within Jan

KHULNA, Dec 10:  Adviser to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Prof Dr Bidhan Ranjon Roy Poddar on Sunday said, the book festival will not be held on January 1 next year like previous years, but all primary students will get books within January. 

A new tender has been invited for printing primary books for the students, and the book printing is delaying for revising and changing some chapters of each classes.
He disclosed this information in replying a question at a press briefing after holding a view-exchange meeting with Khulna divisional education officers. 

Replying another question, the advisor said, some necessary and important story including Anti-Discrimination Student Movement will be included in some chapters.

Earlier, he, as the chief guest of the view-exchange meeting held at the conference room of Khulna Divisional Commi ssioner, said all primary schools will be brought under mid-day meal in the next five years.

In the first phase, the mid-day meal will begin in all primary schools under 150 upazila of the country, he added. 

Referring to UNESCO, he said, the education sector's allotment of the national budget is very low in Bangladesh in South Asia, only two per cent of the total budget. 

It should become six per cent, according to UNESCO's observation, he said again.

The present need is to improve the financial and social status, he added. He further said, primary education aims at making children literate and making them proficient in linguistics and mathematics. 

Mentioning, a project proposal has been sent to the Advisory Council, for approval for not keeping the quota system during primary teachers' appointments, he said, adding, seven per cent existing quota system will be followed like other job sectors.
 
He further said, at least 20 per cent advantage will be given to mathematics and science-passed job seekers during primary teachers' appointment to build students' skills for science and mathematics.

Chaired by Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Firoz Sarkar, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Additional Range DIG of Police Joydev Chowdhury. 

Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md Hussain Shawkot delivered the welcome speech.

Later on, the adviser exchanged views with field-level officers about the development of primary education.
