Police recovered the body of a housewife who had been missing since Sunday night (December 8) from
Chaugachha upazila in Jessore district on Tuesday morning.

The body was found in a water body at Baghardari village in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Rabya Begum, 48, wife of Rabiul Islam, a resident of the area.

It was learnt that Rabya Begum went missing on December 8 while returning home from a neighbor's house at around 7:00 p.m. On Tuesday morning, locals spotted her floating body in a water body next to Tamim's house.

Alamin, the son of the deceased, said, "We have a family dispute with Tamim's family over lending money. Since my mother's body was found near their house, I believe they are involved in this murder. Tamim and his family members have hidden themselves since the incident came to light."

Payel Hossain, officer-in-charge of Chaugachha Police Station, said that the woman might have been strangled to death.
