GAIBANDHA, Dec 10: Speakers at a workshop in the district on Monday noon said, health insurance can ensure good health for vulnerable children to help build healthy nation.
"As many as 3,500 vulnerable children and families of Gidari, Ghgoa and Kholahati unions in Sadar Upazila of the district will be brought under health insurance activity under Health Insurance project for Vulnerable Children and Families that will be implemented by World Vision Bangladesh, a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization in partnership with MILVIK a Swedish Health Tech (also known as BIMA), with the financial support of Vision Fund International and World Vision Australia, " they added.
This information was disclosed by the officials of World Vision Bangladesh in an inception workshop held in the conference room of SKS Inn in Radhakrishnapur area in Sadar Upazila.
Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Touhidul Anwar addressed it as the chief guest.
Deputy Director of the Resource Development and Coordinator of the organization Dr Rahul Mathew spoke as special guest.
Swapon Mondal, senior manager of Rangpur area coordination office, presided over the event.
Health Education Officer of CS Office Md Amirul Islam, Gidari Union Chairman Harun-ur-Rashid, and Kholahati Union Chairman Masum Hakkani addressed as invited guests.
Earlier, a presentation on the project was made by area Programme Manager of the organization Uttam Das. A PowerPoint presentation on health insurance and the overall activity of MILVIK was made by Shehreen Kamal, country lead, marketing & strategic partnership.
Shereen Kamal said, health insurance will be ensured for the 3,500 vulnerable children; and, families of the unions and seven kinds of health relating facilities including tele consultation, arrangement of talking to expert doctors over button and smart mobile phones, discount and cash back will be provided to the selected children and families free of cost under the insurance activity.
Around 100 people including public representatives, elite of the project command area, NGO activists and journalists and invited persons attended the workshop.
