The government reconstituted the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) by appointing a chairman and two commissioners on Tuesday to pursue the pledge to make the country corruption-free.
The Cabinet Division on Tuesday (December 10) issued a gazette notification in this regard.
Former senior secretary of the Home Ministry Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen has been appointed as the new chairman, while retired District and Sessions Judge Mia Mohammad Ali Akbar Azizi and Brigadier General (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid as commissioners.
Under Section 6 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2004, they have been appointed as the commissioners of the ACC, the notifications said.
Of the three, the chairman will enjoy salary, allowance, and other benefits equivalent to those of a judge of the Appellate Division, while the two commissioners will enjoy the same equivalent to those of a judge of the High Court Division.
Earlier on Monday (December 9), Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen submitted his resignation letter to the Ministry of Public Administration, citing personal reasons.
He was promoted to Senior Secretary on August 17 and appointed on contractual basis to the Ministry of Home Affairs' Public Safety Division, where he joined on August 18.
It may be mentioned that on October 29, Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah resigned from the post of chairman of the ACC, and two commissioners Md Zahurul Haque (Investigation) and Ms Asia Khatun (Inquiry) also stepped down. Since then, the posts of chairman and two commissioners of the ACC have remained vacant.
