BNP senior leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has pledged to honor the victims of July-August Uprising, promising to ensure that those killed or injured in the student movement would be respected if his party assumes power.
He emphasized the need to commemorate the sacrifices made by the martyrs of the uprising, proposing the naming of roads and structures in their honor to preserve their legacy.
Rizvi made these statements while addressing a program organized by "Amra BNP Paribar" in Manikganj's Shibalaya on Monday.
The event was aimed at providing financial assistance to the families of those killed by police firing during the mass movement.
"If you dig a hole for others, you yourself will fall into that hole. This is the proof of 'fascist' Sheikh Hasina’s leadership," Rizvi said. He accused Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of failing to establish the BAKSAL system initiated by her father, the founding leader of Bangladesh, and claimed that she had ultimately fallen into a pit while trying to maintain control.
Rizvi also criticized Hasina for keeping national leader Begum Khaleda Zia imprisoned without cause, and he added that Hasina fled the country after the deaths of 2,000 students during the mass movement, hoping her foreign allies would help her stay in power. However, he claimed that her expectations were not realized.
The BNP leader further accused Sheikh Hasina of hypocrisy, pointing out that while she once criticized Tarique Rahman for giving video messages, she herself continues to engage in similar actions via social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube. "Where has her bravery gone?" Rizvi questioned.
