Gender Platform Bangladesh, a rights group to prevent sexual harassment, on Monday demanded formulation and implementation of laws to prevent sexual harassment and protection in the workplaces and educational institutions, implementation of the High Court's directives regarding formation of sexual harassment prevention committees in the workplaces and ratification of ILO Convention 190.
At a press conference organized by Gender Platform Bangladesh at Shagor-Runi Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital, the demands were placed. Bangladesh National Women Lawyers' Association Deputy Director Advocate Nighat Seema, Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS) Director Nazma Yesmin, and Mahmuda Begum, Executive Director of Shobujer Ovijan Foundation, spoke at the press conference.
Representatives of all member organizations of Gender Platform Bangladesh were present.
The speakers strongly demanded to enact and implement the 'Prevention and Protection of Sexual Harassment Act' in the workplace and educational institutions, implement the directives of the High Court regarding the formation of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Committee at the workplaces and ratify the ILO Convention 190.
