A 15-member delegation led by Prof Dr S M A Faiz, Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), attended the 'National Higher Education Conference 2024' in Sri Lanka on Monday, said a press release.
The three-day conference, running from December 9 to 11, began on Mondayin Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka.
On the opening day, UGC Chairman Prof Dr S M A Faiz delivered a speech at the seminar titled 'Bangladesh-UK Higher Education Partnership'. He highlighted the century-old partnership in higher education between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom, dating back to the establishment of Dhaka University in 1921. In his address, he called for making this partnership more dynamic, meaningful, and multidimensional to ensure a fruitful impact.
The seminar, moderated by Kate Joyce, Regional Director of Cultural Relations at the British Council, featured a PowerPoint presentation by UGC member Prof Dr Mohammad Anwar Hossain. Other speakers included Salvador Lopez, Regional Education Director of the British Council; Alison Jones from Advanced Higher Education and Edward Doramos from Quality Assurance.
