A young van driver was killed and two motorcycle riders were seriously injured after being run over by a truck at Gomostapur upazila in Chapainawabganj on Monday.
In a tragic accident in Gomastapur, Chapainawabganj, a van driver, Babar Ali (25), was killed after being run over by a truck, while two motorcycle riders were seriously injured.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon at Tetultola and Kolonimor areas in Rahonpur Union and the municipal area of Gomastapur.
The deceased, Babar Ali, 25, was son of late Khodabux from Patherpuzha village in Rahonpur Union.
According to police, around 2:00 PM on Monday, a truck (Raj Metro-10-0191) heading towards Rahonpur from Adda collided with Babar's van at Tetultola. Babar died at the scene. As the truck fled the scene, it went on to hit two motorcyclists at Kolonimor area in Rahonpur municipality around 2:30 PM.
The injured motorcyclists, identified as Nadim, 30, and Tushar, 32, from Niamatpur upazila in Naogaon, were transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Locals apprehended the truck and its driver, Tajebul Haque, 38, from Pirgachi village in Dhainagar union of Shibganj upazila and handed him over to the police.
Gomostapur Police Station sub-inspector Anisur Rahman confirmed that legal proceedings are underway regarding the incident.
