SHIBCHAR, MADARIPUR, Dec 9: A teenage girl was allegedly killed by her father in Shibchar Upazila of the district over family dispute on Sunday.
The incident took place in Zaduarchar area of the upazila at around 8 am.
The deceased was identified as Ayrin Aktar Mukti, 17, daughter of Farhat Gomostar, a resident of Jaduarchar Village in the upazila.
It was known that the Mukti's parents were quarrelling with each other centring her in the morning. At one stage, Mukti's father struck her head with a stick out of anger, which left the girl critically injured.
She was then rescued and taken to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Officer-in-Charge of Shibchar Police Station Muktar Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
