A tragic road accident claimed the lives of two individuals and left two others injured at Manda upazila in Naogaon district on Monday afternoon.
The collision occurred around 3:30 PM at Mohammadpur area on the Naogaon-Rajshahi regional highway.
The victims were identified as Alvi Rabbani Zihan, 32, son of Enamul Haque from Chouddhuripara in Sapahar upazila, and Mahin Ahmed Sagar, 27, son of Abdul Jabbar. Both were traveling in a private car that collided head-on with a drum truck.
Locals said that the private car, heading towards Naogaon from Rajshahi, crashed into the speeding truck traveling in the opposite direction. The impact left the car severely damaged and pinned against a roadside pillar, killing both passengers on the spot.
Mandah Police Station officer-in-charge Monsur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding, "Police, with the help of Fire Service, recovered the bodies from the wreckage. The injured have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment," he stated.
He added that the bodies would be handed over to the families after completing legal procedures.
