On December 7, 2024, the grand finale of the "Mastering the Power of Voice" workshop, hosted by the News Broadcasters Alliance (NBA), marked a significant milestone in Bangladesh's media industry. This six-week initiative brought together 73 participants from diverse media outlets, offering them an opportunity to refine their voice skills for news presenting, voiceovers, and other broadcasting roles. More than just an event, it was a celebration of professional growth, skill enhancement, and a bold step forward in shaping the future of broadcasting.

Held at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Women’s Association on Bailey Road, the workshop featured expert trainers, including vocal artists, sound designers, and media figures, providing valuable insights into various voice techniques. From TV commercials (TVCs) to documentaries and studio recordings, participants learned essential skills crucial for today’s broadcasting landscape.

NBA’s General Secretary, Raisul Hoque Chowdhury, opened the program with a welcoming speech, setting the tone for an inspiring evening. His words emphasized the importance of voice training in the media industry, highlighting how this initiative would not only enhance the skills of participants but also raise the standards of broadcasting in Bangladesh.

Intensive training in voice work provided a significant advantage to participants. In an industry where a versatile, well-trained voice is a key asset, the workshop helped them develop the skills necessary to stand out. Learning to read news stories clearly, engage audiences, and deliver powerful voiceovers provided them with a well-rounded foundation for any broadcasting role.

A unique aspect of the workshop was the opportunity for direct mentorship from Bangladesh’s top voice artists, sound designers, and media figures. Trainers such as Sharmin Lucky, Rahbar Khan, Kawser Mahmud, Latiful Matin Mithu, Sagor Sen, Sumaiya Kabir Meghla, and Shaibo Talukder offered invaluable knowledge, sharing their expertise in both the technical and creative aspects of voice work. Not only did they train the participants, but they also served as jury members to identify and nurture exceptional talent for a professional voice bank. This initiative aims to provide career opportunities by offering fresh, professional voices to media agencies, production houses, and other institutions seeking new talent.

Abul Hayat, Shamsuddin Hayder Dalim, Mahbub Hasan, and Dr. Hasan Shahriar Kollo also contributed as distinguished personalities in the event, providing valuable mentorship and guidance to participants, as well as supporting the growth of voice artists in Bangladesh.

A groundbreaking feature of the workshop was the creation of the voicebank, an innovative resource that will allow participants to connect with various media projects, including TV commercials, documentaries, and other formats. This serves as a bridge between talented individuals and the growing demand for diverse voices across media platforms, providing invaluable opportunities for career advancement.

In addition to enhancing professional skills, the workshop also focused on adapting participants to the evolving media landscape. With the rise of new media formats such as online video content and podcasts, participants gained essential skills to stay relevant in an ever-changing broadcasting world. These new skills broaden their professional horizons and increase their appeal to a wider range of media platforms, enhancing their marketability.

The event was more than just a skill-building opportunity—it also fostered a sense of community. Over 200 members of Bangladesh’s broadcast media community gathered, encouraging networking, mentorship, and the sharing of ideas. This collaborative atmosphere allowed participants to build connections with peers and experts, fostering unity and mutual support within the industry.

NBA’s President, Saklayen Russel, shared a visionary roadmap for the organization’s future, focusing on continuous skill development and increased support for broadcasters. His address reflected a long-term commitment to empowering media talent and ensuring the continued growth of the broadcasting industry in Bangladesh.

"Mastering the Power of Voice" has set a new benchmark in media training and development in Bangladesh. By providing participants with essential skills, exposure to industry experts, and new career opportunities, the workshop has significantly contributed to the growth of the country’s broadcasting sector. Through the creation of a professional voice bank, the cultivation of a strong media community, and a focus on future growth, NBA has proven itself to be a catalyst for change, empowering the next generation of broadcasters and voice artists.
