The International Anti-Corruption Day was observed on Monday across the country and the globe in a befitting manner with the theme of "Durnitir Biruddhe Tarunner Ekota, Gorbe Agamir Shuddhota."
To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in all districts including Gopalganj, Joypurhat, Khulna, Narayanganj, Panchagarh and Rangamati.
GOPALGANJ: The district administration, District Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and District Corruption Prevention Committee jointly organized different programmes in the town on the occasion of the Day.
The Day’s programme began with singing national anthem and hoisting the national and ACC flags on the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office premises in the town at around 9 am.
Additional DC (ADC) (General) Md Golam Kabir then inaugurated the Day there by releasing balloons.
Later on, a human chain was formed in front of the DC office.
After the human chain, a discussion meeting was held in the DC office conference room.
ADC (General) Md Golam Kabir and Deputy Director (DD) of District ACC Md Mashiur Rahman, among others, also spoke at the meeting.
JOYPURHAT: To mark the Day, the district administration, District ACC and District Corruption Prevention Committee jointly organized different programmes in the town.
Joypurhat DC Mst Afroza Akhter Chowdhury, as the chief guest, inaugurated the Day’s programme after releasing balloons following singing of national anthem and hoisting the national flag at around 10:30 am.
Later on, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the DC office.
District Corruption Prevention Committee President Md Afzal Hossain presided over the meeting.
General Secretary (GS) of the committee Journalist Shahadul Islam Saju conducted the programme.
ADC (General) Bipul Kumar, Additional Superintend of Police (ASP) KMA Mamun Khan Chishty, ACC District Office Assistant Director (AD) Nawshad Ali, Vice-President of District Corruption Prevention Committee and JAKS Foundation Executive Magistrate Md Nurul Amin, and the committee’s member MA Karim, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
Besides, District Information Office arranged a anti-corruption documentary screening at Shaheed Dr Abul Kashem Maidan in the town.
KHULNA: Khulna District administration organized a discussion in cooperation with Khulna ACC and District Corruption Prevention Committee in the conference room of the DC office in the city, marking the Day.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Firoz Sarkar addressed the meeting as the chief guest while DC Muhammad Saiful Islam was in the chair.
Director of Local Government Department in Khulna Md Tabibur Rahman, Director of ACC Zalal uddin Ahmad, DD Abdul Wadud, and President of District Corruption Prevention Committee Principal Dr Moni Mohon Saha addressed the programme as special guests.
The chief guest stressed the need for enhancing mass awareness programme at elsewhere including offices and educational institutions for building a crime-free society.
“It’s high time we prevent corruption. We can’t keep an uneven path of corruption for our future generation. We want to establish such a country which will be free from corruption,” he said.
The chief guest also urged all to raise their voice against corruption unitedly to fight the long persisting social menace effectively.
Speakers in the meeting mentioned that corruption undermines economic development, increase poverty, exploitation and injustice, prevent good governance, accountability and transparency and create social and political instability and insecurity.
They laid importance on creation of awareness among the mass people, especially the young generation, to eliminate corruption from the society.

NARAYANGANJ: In this connection, different programmes were organized in the district.
A discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the DC office in the city at noon.
Narayanganj DC Md Mahmudul Haque was present at the meeting as the chief guest.
District Civil Surgeon (CS) Mushiur Rahman, Narayanganj ASP (Detective Branch) Tariqul Islam, District ACC DD and its AD, among others, also spoke at that time.
Earlier, a human chain was formed on the DC office premises.

PANCHAGARH: On the occasion of the Day, the district administration in collaboration with District ACC and District Corruption Prevention Committee organized different programmes.
In the morning, the national and ACC flags were hoisted through the national anthem at the Collectorate Square in the town.
Later on, the DC inaugurated the Day’s programme by blowing colourful balloons.
Then, a colourful rally was brought out from there, which ended at the same place after parading the main streets of the town.
After the rally, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the DC office.
RANGAMATI: To mark the Day, the district administration and District ACC jointly organized different programmes in the town.
A discussion meeting was held in the DC office conference room in the morning.
Newly joined Rangamati DC Md Habib Ullah was present as the chief guest while ADC (General) Md Ruhul Amin presided over the meeting.
SP SM Farhad Hossain, District ACC AD Ahmed Farhad, President of District Corruption Prevention Committee Omar Faruque, and Executive Engineer of LGED Ahmed Shafi, among others, were also present at the programme.
