Former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak has been placed on a three-day remand in a case filed over the killing of a student named Monir Miah during the July-August mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order on Monday as police produced Palak before the court and pleaded for seven-day remand.
Palak was arrested from the Nikunja Residential Area on August 14 and placed on different terms of remand in different cases filed over the crimes committed during the July-August mass uprising.
According to the case documents, on August 5, Monir, a MBA student of Narayanganj Govt Tolaram College, joined an anti-discrimination student rally in Chankharpul area of the capital.
He got shot around 12.30PM and rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Following the death, Monir's cousin Raju Ahmed filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station on October 2.
