The 25th Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), under Cumilla Sector's Sarail Battalion, intercepted a large consignment of illegal smuggled goods at Bijoynagar upazila in Brahmanbaria district on Sunday.
According to BGB sources, after being tipped-off, an operation took place around 3:30 AM in Chandura Bypass area of the upazila, where the smugglers, upon noticing the presence of BGB personnel, fled the scene.
The seized items include a wide range of goods, such as 3,196 pieces of Haji Rumal (a type of cloth), 2,307 pieces of injections used for treating various diseases including kidney, liver, heart, and cancer, 6,280 pieces of tablets and capsules for kidney, liver, and nerve-related disease, 100 pieces of three-piece suits, 80 pieces of woolen shawls, 4,584 pieces of chocolates, 102 pieces of cosmetics.
The estimated value of these goods stands at approximately 1,05,83,820 taka.
The seized goods are currently in the process of being handed over to the Akhaura Customs Office for further action.
