NARAYANGANJ, Dec 8: A young man was stabbed to death in Sadar Upazila of the district early Sunday.
The incident took place in Taltala area of Fatullah at around 12:30 am.
The deceased was identified as Sajib Deb Nath, 28, son of Ashutosh Deb Nath of Kathpatti Road area in Barguna District Town.
Police, however, arrested two persons in connection with the incident.
The arrested are: Robi, 18, son of Bijoy of Pagla Noyamati Temple area; and Sazzad, 18, son of Mithu of Pagla school area in Fatullah.
It was known that some youths have been consuming drugs on a regular basis on the bank of the Buriganga River in Pagla Taltala area of Fatullah. At around 12 am on Sunday, Sajib, Robi and Sazzad were consuming hemp there. At that time, an altercation took place among them. At one stage of the altercation, Robi and Sazzad stabbed Sajib on his stomach, leaving him dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
However, the law enforcers detained the accused while the two were trying to flee.
Fatullah Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sukanta Dutta confirmed the incident, adding that legal action would be taken in this connection.
